SAINT LOUIS - Four runs in the final three innings helped the DePaul softball team open the week with a 6-4 road victory over Saint Louis Tuesday afternoon.

The Blue Demons wasted no time getting on the scoreboard to start the game. Micah Fitzgerald opened the game with a walk and stole second during the next at-bat. A Dylan Christensen walk and Morgan Maize single loaded the bases for DePaul. With two outs, Alysia Rodriguez sent a single to center field that brought home Dylan Christensen and Fitzgerald.

After a scoreless fourth inning for both sides, the Blue Demons loaded the bases in the fifth inning with just one out. Sabrina Kuchta walked, Morgan Greenwood was hit by a pitch and Dylan Christensen singled to the left center gap. Maize shot a single to right center field and brought Fitzgerald, running for Kuchta, home to score the go-ahead run. DePaul added another run in the fifth inning after pinch runner Cherelle Chambers touched home on a Saint Louis wild pitch to make the score 4-2.
DePaul capitalized on a Saint Louis fielding error in the top of the sixth inning to put Megan Leyva on second base. Two batters later, Haydn Christensen doubled to left center field to send home Leyva and give the Blue Demons their biggest lead of the afternoon at 5-2.
The Billikens answered with two runs in the bottom of the sixth. With two outs, Buckles reached on a fielding error at third base and Mackenzie Lawson came home to score. On the next at-bat, Peter squeezed a single down the right field line and Hailey Weavers scored to cut the deficit to just one run.
Gena Lenti started the seventh inning with a single down the right field line for the Blue Demons. Lenti crossed home plate on the next at-bat after Dylan Christensen doubled to left center field, giving DePaul a two-run lead.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Billikens went down in order and DePaul claimed the road win.
