Podkowa Named to BIG EAST All-Tournament Team

CHICAGO - With the 2016 BIG EAST Conference Women's Basketball Tournament in the books, DePaul's Megan Podkowa was named to the five-person All-Tournament Team. St. John's Aliyyah Handford earned the tournament's Most Outstanding Player accolade.
Podkowa joined Allazia Blockton (Marquette), Danaejah Grant (St. John's), Shakena Richardson (Seton Hall) and MC McGrory (Creighton) on the five-player All-Tournament team.
For the tournament, Podkowa averaged 13.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and a block in DePaul's two games. The Blue Demons topped Butler, 76-49 in quarterfinals but fell to eventual tournament Champion, St. John's 75-66 in the semifinals.
Prior to the tournament's start Podkowa was named to the BIG EAST All-Conference second team. The Glenview, Ill., native was also named the BIG EAST Women's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a second-team CoSIDA Academic All-American.
No. 18/21 DePaul (25-8) awaits the NCAA Selection Show on Monday, March 14. The Blue Demons will host its annual selection show watch party at McGrath-Phillips Arena on Monday - doors open at 5 p.m.
