Golf Finishes Hawkeye-Great River Entertainment Classic

IOWA CITY - Freddy Thomas led DePaul to a ninth place finish at the Hawkeye-Great River Entertainment Classic on Sunday. Playing at the par-72 Finkbine Golf Course, Thomas finished in tie for 30th to lead the Blue Demons.
Thomas started the day in a tie for 48th, but the sophomore fired a tournament-best 70 in Sunday's final round to move up 18 spots on the leaderboard. Thomas recorded rounds of 74, 77 and 70 to finish the tournament seven-over (221).
Thomas has led the Blue Demons in five tournament this season including the last two. The sophomore paces the team with a 74.0 stroke average.
Jonathan Hewett fired a three-over 75 and finished in a tie for 40th (223). Charlie Spencer-White was one stroke behind Hewett and tied for 42nd. The freshman recorded a 76 in the final round.
Adrian Halimi also fired a 76 on Sunday and tied for 45th with rounds of 71, 78 and 76 (225). James Lelliott tied for 57th.
The Blue Demons tied with Nebraska for ninth place. DePaul finished the tournament 21 over (885) and were nine-over during Sunday's final round.
Kansas won the team title and combined to go 15-under (849). Iowa State and Iowa (858) tied for second.
The Blue Demons take two weeks off before competing at the BIG EAST Conference Tournament, May 1-3 in Okatie, S.C. at the Callawassie Island Club.
