Softball Falls to No. 19/18 Notre Dame

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The DePaul softball team fell 8-0 in five innings to No. 19/18 Notre Dame Wednesday afternoon at Melissa Cook Stadium.
DePaul (21-24, 11-3 BIG EAST) threatened in the top of the second as Naomi Tellez, Megan Leyva and Alysia Rodriguez loaded the bases with two outs. With Angela Scalizitti at the plate, the sophomore grounded into a fielder's choice to end the Blue Demon threat.
Notre Dame (36-8, 10-5 ACC) went on to tally two runs in the third, five in the fourth and one in the fifth to end the game.
Megan Leyva (5-10) pitched a complete game for DePaul and allowed 13 hits.
Allie Rhodes (17-5) recorded the win for Notre Dame. She pitched for four innings, allowed two hits and struck out four. Rachel Nasland pitched in the final inning and struck out one.
The defeat marks the Blue Demons first on the road since Mar. 23.
DePaul is back on the road this weekend for a three-game series at Seton Hall Apr. 30-May 1. The series begins with a doubleheader on Saturday at 11 a.m. CT. Sunday's game will be broadcast on the BIG EAST Digital Network at 11 a.m.
