Eight Conference Champions Crowned on Day Two

GENEVA, Ohio - On day two of the BIG EAST Outdoor Track and Field Championships, DePaul crowned eight conference champions, including two for senior Tayler Whittler.
It was a clean sweep for the Blue Demons in the men's 400m hurdles. Jarvis Hill was the first DePaul hurdler across the finish line with a time of 54.49 to claim the conference champion honor. Hill was followed by Kyle Decker at 55.43 and Evan Lowry at 55.88.
Tayler Whittler continued her dominance of the BIG EAST sprinting events by placing first in the 100m dash. The senior notched a time of 11.68 to earn the top spot with teammate Shayna Nwokenkwo right behind in second at 11.87. In the women's 200m, Whittler earned her second conference crown of the day after crossing the line first at 24.05. That time was .62 seconds faster than the runner-up.
Trevor Kintyhtt picked up his second conference championship of the weekend after placing first in the men's shot put. Kintyhtt hit the winning distance of 15.35 meters on his first attempt. Because of his weekend, Kintyhtt was named the BIG EAST Most Outstanding Field Athlete.
Sarah Moss kicked off day two for the Blue Demons by claiming the BIG EAST championship in the women's discus throw. The senior reached 47.17 meters on her fifth attempt to win the event for the third year in a row.
Senior Blake Thompson took home first in the men's discus throw when he recorded a mark of 51.76 meters on his third attempt. Thompson was joined by Kintyhtt on podium after Kintyhtt placed second with a throw of 48.59 meters.
Brian Mada's first BIG EAST Outdoor Championship was capped by winning the men's triple jump. The freshman used his final jump of 14.60 meters to win the event. It was the Mada's first meet since April 23.
Decker, the indoor season hurdle champion, found himself atop the podium again in his first year as a Blue Demon by winning the men's 110m hurdles final with a time of 14.82. It marked a new personal best for the freshman. Decker was followed by Lowry, placing second at 14.88.
Alexia Harvey and Ariel Davis both bested their preliminary times in the women's 100m hurdles to take two spots on the podium. Harvey placed second with a time of 13.94, setting a new program record in the event, while Davis came in third at 14.26.
Sebastian Feyersinger made it to the podium twice on day two. He earned a runner-up finish in the 200m with a time of 21.65 and finished third in the 400m at 48.96. He crossed the finish line right behind teammate Chaz Bottoms in 2nd at 48.94.
The women's 4x100 team of Nwokenkwo, Taylor Farley, Jessica Watkins and Whittler earned a second-place finish after a time of 46.44, narrowly being edged by .01 seconds by St. John's.
Emily Eller claimed a top-three finish in the women's shot put by reaching 13.00 meters. This weekend was Eller's first BIG EAST Outdoor Championship of her collegiate career.
In the team standings, the men finished in third place with 163 points, just 16 points behind Villanova in second. The women's team placed fourth with a team score of 104.
Saturday marked the final team meet for the Blue Demons and now DePaul prepares for the NCAA West Preliminaries. More information on individual qualifiers to come.
