Softball Completes Series Sweep Over Creighton

OMAHA, Neb. - The DePaul softball team finished its series against Creighton with a 2-0 victory Sunday afternoon at Creighton Sports Complex.
The Blue Demons' (27-24, 16-3 BIG EAST) sweep over the Bluejays (25-22, 7-11 BIG EAST) marks their sixth BIG EAST series win of the season.
The game was scoreless until DePaul got on board with two runs in the top of the fifth. With Marsha' Pendilton in scoring position, Gena Lenti singled up the middle to score in her fellow senior. Lenti went on to score the second run off a double from Dylan Christensen for the final 2-0 finish.
Megan Leyva (9-10) pitched a complete game for DePaul. She allowed five hits and struck out three.
Micaela Whitney (8-9) suffered the loss for Creighton. She allowed four hits and struck out six in seven innings pitched.
Yesterday, the Blue Demons clinched the BIG EAST Regular Season title in game two against the Bluejays to earn the top seed for the BIG EAST Conference tournament. The tournament is set for May 13-14 at the Ballpark at Rosemont.
Semifinals are scheduled for noon and 3 p.m. CT Friday, May 13. The championship game is set for Saturday, May 14 at 2 p.m. All games will be broadcast live on FS2.
In the semifinals, DePaul will face No. 4 seed Butler. Villanova grabbed the No. 2 seed, with St. John's taking the No. 3 spot.
The BIG EAST will announce semifinal game times Sunday night or Monday morning.
