Hewett Leads DePaul in the First Round of Loyola Intercollegiate

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - The DePaul golf team combined to go four-over in the first round of the Loyola Intercollegiate on Saturday at the Palms Valley Golf Club. Jonathan Hewett led the Blue Demons and is one-under after 18 holes.
Hewett is in a tie for 22nd after firing a one-under (71) on Saturday. The junior carded five birdies in the opening round of the tournament.
Garret Buckley shot even par on Saturday. The junior recorded four birdies in the first round and sits in a 11-way tie for 36th heading into Sunday's second round.
Charlie Spencer-White was two-over (74) on the day and is tied for 64th. James Lelliott is tied for 70th at three-over (75). Jonathan Goldstein rounds out the DePaul contingent at eight-over (80) in 94th.
DePaul is in 13th and place and combined to go four-over. The Blue Demons' 292 round-one total is the team's second-lowest round of the year. DePaul carded a 285 on the par-71 Members Club at Four Streams at the Georgetown Intercollegiate on Oct. 17.
Eastern Michigan leads the 16-team field and went 13-under (275) with UT-Martin in second at 8-under (280). Arkansas State, Seton Hall, and Connecticut are in a three-way tie for third at 6-under (282).
