DePaul Finishes FAU Slomin Autism Championship

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - Garret Buckley fired a two-under 70 to lead DePaul on the final day of the FAU Slomin Autism Championship as the Blue Demons finished seventh out of the 13 teams competing.
Buckley's impressive third round put him in a tie for 13th place and he finished as the top finisher for the Blue Demons. His round of 70 on Sunday gave him a tournament score of 221 (+5) after opening the event with rounds of 74 and 77.
Freddy Thomas finished in a tie for 18th place as he carded a 78 on Sunday. Rounds of 72 and 73 on Friday and Saturday gave him a three-round score of 223 (+7). James Lelliott and Jonathan Hewett both finished in a group in 40th and Jonathan Goldstein placed 52nd in the tournament. Lelliott turned in his best round of the weekend on Sunday with a 73 to give him a total of 229 (+13). Hewett also totaled 229 with as he finished with an 81 after a 77 and 71 over the first two rounds. Goldstein posted his best score of the tournament on Sunday with a 73 and completed the event with a score of 232 (+16). Charlie Spencer-White finished in 70th place as an individual with rounds of 84, 77 and 81 to total 242 (+26).
UCF claimed the team title with a score of 867 (+3) and finished seven shots ahead of Jacksonville State. The Blue Demons placed seventh and were just a shot behind sixth-place Georgetown with a team score of 893 (+29). Jacksonville State's Daniel Pico finished atop the individual leaderboard with a tournament score of 209 (-7).
Up next for the Blue Demons is the Redhawk Invitational on April 3-4 at Chambers Bay GC in University Place, Wash.
