Softball Heads to UIC for Midweek Contest

CHICAGO - DePaul softball is set for a midweek city showdown against UIC on Wednesday, April 26 at 4 p.m. Central time at Flames Field.
The game marks a BIG EAST break for DePaul (24-17, 9-4 BIG EAST) who recently clinched a 2-0 series win at Georgetown over the weekend.
Jessica Cothern finished the weekend with a .429 batting average. In the Blue Demons final game against the Hoyas, Cothern notched two homers in three at bats. The home runs marked her second and third of the season.
Along with Cothern, four other Blue Demons finished with a batting average of .400 or higher against Georgetown.
On the national level, DePaul is tied for 36th in the NCAA with Seton Hall in home runs per game. The squad averages .90 per contest and currently boasts 37 overall. Nicole Pihl leads all with 10 homers and is tied for second in the BIG EAST.
DePaul and UIC have not met since 2011 when the two programs squared off twice at the Saluki Invitational in Carbondale, Ill. The Blue Demons took both games, 6-0, 3-2.

UIC Scout (29-18):
The Flames challenge Loyola on Tuesday before taking on DePaul Wednesday. In their last time on the field, UIC recorded its fourth conference sweep against Green Bay. Kayla Well led the squad, going 6-for-7 at the plate and tallying six RBI.
Overall, Lexi Watts leads the team with a .391 batting average and 31 runs.
On its pitching staff, Karissa Frazier is responsible for 10 wins and boasts a 1.55 ERA.
