Softball Travels In-State for Two Midweek Games

CHICAGO - DePaul softball returns to action with two midweek games this week. The Blue Demons travel a few miles north to the Loyola Softball Park on Tuesday, April 4 to challenge the Ramblers at 4 p.m. and visit Normal, Ill. for a 5 p.m. game against Illinois State on Wednesday, April 5 at Marian Kneer Stadium. Both games will be featured on ESPN3.
The Blue Demons (15-15, 2-3 BIG EAST) dropped a three-game series 1-2 to Seton Hall over the weekend at home. DePaul won the second game over the Pirates 4-0 with Kennedy Garcia leading the way in the circle. She allowed just one hit and struck out a season-high five batters in her second shutout of the season.
Alysia Rodriguez led DePaul at the plate, notching a .600 batting average over the course of three games. She went 6-for-10, which included five doubles and three RBI. Rodriguez is now second on the team with seven doubles, just behind Dylan Christensen and Jessica Cothern who lead the Blue Demons with eight each.

Loyola Scout (18-13, 1-8 MVC):
The Ramblers notched their first conference win of the season and snapped a six-game losing streak after a 2-1 victory over Wichita State on Sunday.
Katie Kasubke has started all 31 games for the squad this season. She ranks second with 13 runs, leads with three homers and is tied for first with 18 RBI.
Kiley Jones boasts a 2.43 ERA with 11 wins in the circle. She has struck out 79 batters over the course of 129.2 innings.
The two Chicago programs played one another at Cacciatore Stadium last season. DePaul won the game 2-1 to extend its win streak to four games over the Ramblers.
Illinois State Scout (16-16, 6-3 MVC):
The Redbirds face the Blue Demons after dropping a three-game series 1-2 to Southern Illinois over the weekend.
Shannon Felde has notched a hit in her last 19 plate appearances. She ranks second on the team with a .500 batting average and leads the team with 21 RBI.
Sarah Finck owns the most wins among the pitching staff with 10. She holds a 3.02 ERA.
Illinois State holds a 19-16-2 series advantage over DePaul, but the Blue Demons have won the last two outings.
