CHICAGO - Nathan de Veer and Alex Galoustian represent DePaul men's tennis on the BIG EAST All-Conference Team league officials announced on Friday.
They sparked the Blue Demons to their first undefeated record at home since 2009 and the squad's first No. 1 seed in the BIG EAST Championship tournament in program history.
As a senior, de Veer put together a team-best 16-9 record. Playing primarily No. 1 singles, he recorded a 14-9 mark at the top spot and finished the year on a six-match winning streak. He was named BIG EAST Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week twice this season.
Galoustian was used at the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles spots with his best showing coming at No. 2 with a 7-5 record. He finished the dual season with a 12-9 overall record. No stranger to BIG EAST awards, Galoustian was named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Year in his rookie campaign and awarded the BIG EAST Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week several times.
Together, de Veer and Galoustian put together a 14-8 overall doubles record for the season. The two played primarily at the top spot, boasting a 12-5 mark. Notably, de Veer and Galoustian clinched match point in what was a five-hour long match against UTRGV at the H-E-B Invitational in Corpus Christi, Texas back in March.
DePaul finished its season 16-10 overall, 3-0 in regular season BIG EAST play and 9-0 at home. The Blue Demons lost in a close 4-3 match to the Marquette in the semifinals of the conference tournament on April 30.
