Spanjaard's Consolation Run Comes to an End

MILWAUKEE - Blue Demon sophomore Boris Spanjaard advanced deep into the consolation round of the prestigious Milwaukee Tennis Classic.
He opened Saturday with a hard-fought 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 victory over Pablo Landa of Illinois. That was the Netherlands tennis player's fourth win in his first five matches of the season.
Spanjaard's run came to an end in the afternoon after a 6-0, 6-0 loss to Alex Brown of Illinois. That result culminated DePaul's participation in the Milwaukee Classic as Spanjaard recorded victories against tennis players from Michigan State, Marquette, Illinois and Virginia Tech.
Spanjaard returns to Lincoln Park with a 4-2 singles record and some early-season momentum when coach Matt Brothers' program returns to the courts on Oct. 7 at the Valparaiso (Ind.) Invitational.
