Avgeri, Yergler, Djokic Record Wins on Day One

Avgeri advances to second round of ITA Midwest Regional qualifying
ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Aspasia Avgeri and freshmen Maddie Yergler and Hristina Djokic provided the women's tennis highlights for DePaul on Thursday.
On day one of the ITA Midwest Regional Championships featuring 22 teams, Avgeri emerged victorious in her opening singles qualifying match after a 6-3, 6-1 decision over Thalita Rodrigues of Toledo.
In the second round of qualifying, Avgeri fell 6-0, 6-2 to Wisconsin's Ava Markham.
After Yergler dropped her qualifying opener 4-6, 6-1, 7-6 (3) in a real battle against Alexandrina Chinikova of Marquette, the Blue Demon rookie bounced back with a 7-5, 6-3 consolation victory against Detroit's Ksenia Providohkim.
Classmate Djokic lost her opener 7-6, 6-0 to Katarina Drazic of Chicago State before rebounding with a 6-2, 2-1 (retired) consolation win over Cassandra Moraleja of Youngstown State.
DePaul senior Keisha Clousing takes the Varsity Tennis Court at Michigan on Saturday in the singles main draw.
Doubles play begins Friday with Blue Demon tandems of Djokic and Clousing, Avgeri and Jovicic and Tesic and Yergler.
