Adix-Zins Announces 2019 Slate

DePaul softball releases full 2019 schedule
CHICAGO – DePaul softball coach Tracie Aidx-Zins announced today the 2019 schedule for the Blue Demons in her first season leading the program. The non-conference schedule features six tournaments and after that, the season will see contests against seven BIG EAST opponents starting on the road at Butler on March 22.
"My staff and I are excited to announce our spring schedule," said head coach Adix-Zins. "We are working hard to continue the success of DePaul softball that has been established here.
"Our non-conference opponents will help prepare us to take on the BIG EAST schedule we have ahead of us this season with the ultimate goal being claiming the title of BIG EAST Champions as well as an NCAA Tournament berth. Our team and staff are excited for the journey."
The Blue Demons will open the 2019 season as they take part in the Total Control Sports Invitational in Rosemont, Ill. The tournament will include University of Wisconsin Green Bay, Evansville, University of Missouri Kansas City and Purdue Fort Wayne and will take place Feb. 8-10. Next, the team will head south to Alabama to battle Eastern Illinois, Georgia State and Samford in the Samford Tournament Feb. 14-17.
DePaul will then face New Mexico, Canisius and Hawaii in Honolulu for the Hawaii Tournament Feb. 21-24 before heading back to the mainland to face Houston, Texas State, Texas Southern and University of New Orleans in the Houston Tournament Feb. 28- March 3. DPU will remain south to battle Memphis, Indiana State, Middle Tennessee State, Purdue Fort Wayne and Belmont in the Memphis Tournament March 7-10.
For their last tournament of the season, softball will venture to the West Coast to participate in the Cal State Fullerton Tournament featuring Iowa State, Charleston, Long Beach State, Cal State Fullerton and Harvard March 14-17.
Conference play begins in Indianapolis, Ind., with a three-game set against Butler over the span of three days, from March 22-24. The Blue Demons will then return to Chicago for a non-conference matchup at Northwestern on March 27 before returning to Cacciatore Stadium to open their home slate against BIG EAST foe Seton Hall on March 30-31.
DPU will hit the road once again from April 5-7 to compete in their second BIG EAST road matchup of the season at Georgetown before returning back to Cacciatore Stadium to host Providence for a home series April 13-14 and then Illinois State for a lone weekday game on Tuesday, April 16. After that, the Blue Demons will compete in two-consecutive BIG EAST series, one on the road against St. John's April 17-20 and the next at home against Creighton April 27-28.
The team will remain in-state for a road game on April 30 when DPU will travel to Champaign to face Illinois before returning home to face Loyola in the Red Line Rivalry May 1. The final conference series of the season will take place at Villanova from May 3-5 before tournament play initiates.
This season, the BIG EAST Tournament once again will take place in familiar territory at The Ballpark at Rosemont.
The DePaul softball program will also be announcing information regarding its winter camps in upcoming weeks.
