
Women's Soccer Visits St. John's for Regular Season Finale

CHICAGOÂ - Coming off a must-win victory in their final home game against Villanova, DePaul women's soccer will hit the road one last time in the regular season for a 7:00 p.m. tilt against St. John's on Thursday evening in Queens, N.Y.Â
Last Time Out
DePaul will look to keep their post-season hopes alive on Thursday. Captain Franny Cerny still leads her squad with eight goals, three assists and 19 points. Cerny is tied with defender Avery Hay in assists. Right behind the captain in goals is Morgan Turner with five. She notched a hat-trick early this season against UMass Lowell. Senior Madeline Frick has four goals and five other Blue Demons round out the goal-scorers with one apiece. The offense is averaging 1.41 goals per game with a SOG percentage of 0.560. In goal, Mollie Eriksson was not forced to make a single save against the Wildcats for her seventh shutout of the season - second consecutive - good enough to be tied for third in the BIG EAST. Her goals against average of 0.91 and her save percentage of 0.787 places her fifth in the BIG EAST.Â
Scouting the Red Storm (9-7-1, 5-2-1 BIG EAST)
St. John's is undefeated in their last five outings and with their most recent win over Xavier, improved to second place in the BIG EAST - tied with Butler in the standings. The Red Storm's offense is paced by Zsani Kajan with 11 goals - good enough for second in conference standings. They are averaging 1.47 just 0.06 higher than DePaul's average. Behind her is Christina Bellero with six goals and who most recently earned BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week. Meredith Reinhardt - who made the BIG EAST Honor Roll - has anchored the Johnnies in goal with four shutouts, 64 saves, a save percentage of 0.790 to go along with a goals against average of 1.22.Â
2017 Matchup
The DePaul women's soccer team punched its ticket to the BIG EAST tournament on Thursday afternoon as the Blue Demons downed St. John's 1-0 to secure the sixth and final slot of the tournament field. With the victory, head coach Erin Chastain captured her 100th career victory. DePaul received the game-winning goal from junior Franny Cerny in the 43rd minute. The Blue Demons held on for the 1-0 victory as the defensive line picked up its seventh shutout of the season. Of note, six of DePaul's seven wins in 2017 have come via shutout.

The two programs have met a total of seven times with the series sitting tied, 3-3-1.Â

Last Time Out
- The Blue Demons came out with an intensity unmatched by the Wildcats and the will to win on Senior Day. They outshot 'Nova 13-8 with seven of the 13 being on goal. The Wildcats failed to put up a single shot on goal. DePaul also won the corners battle 12-2.Â
- DePaul's offensive onslaught was evident as they put up 12 of their 13 shots and earned eight of their corners in the first half. The lone goal of the match came in the final minute of the first half. Franny Cerny held off a defender towards the right side of the box before tapping it to Jade Eriksen-Russo who sent it flying to the left corner of the net for the go-ahead goal. The game-winner was her first and also marked her second career goal.Â
