CHICAGOÂ - Blue Demon women's soccer played to a scoreless draw against the Golden Eagles of Marquette on Thursday evening in a double overtime match. This is DePaul's second scoreless draw of the season.Â
DePaul set pace in the first half, firing off 13 total shots before putting up another 6 in the second half, forcing Marquette goalkeeper to make seven saves on the night.Â
Senior captain Franny Cerny had a great look in the 68th minute that looked to be the go-ahead goal for the Blue Demons but the referees called offsides just after the ball fell into the back right corner of the net.Â
Cerny had three shots on goal Thursday, while teammate Madeline Frick would tally two. Goalkeeper Mollie Eriksson notched six saves over the 110 minute match.Â
DePaul would find plenty of chances, as would their longtime rival, in the second overtime - four and three shots, respectively - but no other shot found the back of the net.Â
Marquette owns the all-time series 15-5-2. In Milwaukee, the Golden Eagles are 9-1-1 and on Wish Field, the Blue Demons are 6-4-1.Â
