Blue Demons Off to Fast Start at Wildcat Invite

Advance two into singles semifinals and two doubles teams into quarterfinals
EVANSTON, Ill. – After taking a week off, the DePaul women's tennis team returned to action Friday at the Wildcat Invite in suburban Evanston.
Two Blue Demons advanced to the semifinals of their flights and a pair of DePaul doubles teams advanced to the quarterfinals in their flights.
Freshmen Hristina Djokic and Maddie Yergler won their day one matches with Djokic topping Georgie Sanders of Illinois-Chicago 6-4, 6-1 while Yergler defeated Chicago State's Iesha Shepherd 6-2, 6-4.
In her 2018-19 her singles debut, Keisha Clousing dropped a 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 decision to Pittsburgh's Luisa Varon.
In doubles, Milica Tesic made her season debut teaming with Djokic for a 6-3 victory over Viktoria Seifert and Nell Arendt of UIC.
Aspasia Avgeri and Marija Jovicic began the new season with a 6-2 triumph over Katarina Drazic and Kristina Pukhaeva of Chicago State.
Clousing and Yergler will begin battling their way through the consolation bracket quarterfinals Saturday after falling 6-4 to Pitt's Varon and Clara Lucas.
Singles semifinals and doubles quarterfinals in both the championship and consolation brackets get underway Saturday morning at Northwestern's Vandy Christie Tennis Center.
