Yergler Continues Stellar Start to Her Career

Blue Demon freshman advances to Sunday's Wildcat Invite title match
EVANSTON, Ill. – For her second tournament in a row, freshman Maddie Yergler has advanced to the championship match.
Continuing the stellar start to her collegiate career, the rookie from Granger, Ind. came away with a 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (7) victory over Leah Heimuli of Utah Saturday at the Wildcat Invite hosted by Northwestern.
Yergler will bring a 4-1 singles record into Sunday's Flight I title showdown against Clare McKee of Princeton.
Classmate Hristina Djokic moved into the Flight D third-place match after dropping a 6-4, 6-0 decision to Northwestern's Vanessa Streng.
In the Flight E consolation semis, Keisha Clousing lost 7-5, 3-6 1-0 (6) to Lindsay Hung of Utah.
The DePaul doubles team of Aspasia Avgeri and Marija Jovicic advanced into the Flight B semifinals after defeating the Kentucky duo of Akvile Parazanskalte and Alexis Merrill 6-3.
They will oppose Northwestern's Julie Byrne and Hannah McColgan on Sunday.
In the Flight A doubles consolation round, Keisha Clousing and Yergler moved into the semifinals after a 6-2 victory over Chicago State's Anastasila Goncharova and Iesha Shepherd. Their next challenge will be Northwestern's Inci Ogut and Carol Finke.
Also in Flight A, Milica Tesic and Djokic fell 6-3 to Princeton's Clare McKee and Nathalie Rodilosso.
