First collegiate singles title eludes talented DePaul freshman

EVANSTON, Ill. – Maddie Yergler came up just a bit short Sunday in a bid to win her first collegiate singles title.

The talented DePaul freshman won her first two matches of the weekend at the Wildcat Invite hosted by Northwestern only to fall 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (7) to Clare McKee of Princeton in Flight I.

Two weeks ago, Yergler finished second at the Bradley Invitational.

Also in singles, fellow freshman Hristina Djokic lost in the Flight D third-place match 6-4, 4-6, 1-0 (8) to Rheeya Doshi of Northwestern. Keisha Clousing defeated Katarina Drazic of Chicago State 6-3, 7-5

Due to inclement weather, there were no doubles matches played on Sunday.

Coach Mark Ardizzone and his team return to action on Oct. 18 when they travel to Ann Arbor, Mich. for the ITA Midwest Regional.
