Volleyball Honors Three on Senior Night to Cap Off Season

Two players and one volleyball staff member were honored on senior night to conclude the 2018 season.

CHICAGO - The Blue Demons honored two players and one member of the volleyball staff on senior night to cap off the 2018 season. DePaul played with grit but fell in three sets to Seton Hall 3-0 (15-25, 21-25, 23-25) and finishes with a mark of 5-24 (3-15 BIG EAST) on the season.

In Saturday's Senior Night contest, DePaul honored the five Seton Hall seniors before Blue Demon seniors Dominika Kowalska and Ashley Marshall were honored along with the three-year Volleyball Manager Zach Morrow.

Regardless of the final score, two Blue Demons led the night in digs with Isabelle Banez tallying 18 and Mattie Norris with 12.

In the first set, a Donna Brown kill gave DPU the first lead, however, it would quickly become a back-and-forth battle with the score knotting three times before Seton Hall jumped into the lead. The Pirates would hold DePaul to 15 points and would go on to take the first set 25-15.

DePaul jumped out to a 2-1 lead in the second set but the next 17 points would exchange between sides to find 10's across the board. With DePaul scoring six of the next nine points, the Blue Demons would find themselves up by a difference of 16-13, however, SHU would go on a 7-0 run to inch away into a comfortable lead and would go on to take the second set 25-21.

The third set would remain close as the first eight points traded between sides. The score would knot six more times, the highest being at 17's before a 3-0 Seton Hall run put them in the lead that they would hold for the remainder of the set. A Claire Anderson kill would later bring the Blue Demons within one with Seton Hall at match point, however, the Pirates would have the final say, taking the third stanza 25-23.
