Conor Glennon and Stephen Sul set to join programs in fall of 2019
CHICAGO – DePaul golf coach Marty Schiene announced that Conor Glennon and Stephen Sul recently completed their National Letter of Intent paperwork and will join the program next season. Glennon is a native of Ireland while Sul heads to Chicago from New Jersey.
"Conor's natural strength and ability to hit the ball long and straight will lead to great success here at DePaul," said Schiene. "Stephen will be a great addition to our team with his ability to go low and his consistency on the golf course. We are looking forward to having both of them join our program and represent DePaul University."
Glennon qualified for the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship this past summer after shooting a 69 at Stonewall Orchard in Grayslake, Ill. He won the Kerry Boys Championship at the Ballybunion Golf Club that included a 10-stroke victory in stroke play, and drilled a hole-in-one during the first round of the AIG Irish Amateur Close Championship.
Sul has been ranked as high 111th on the Junior Golf Scoreboard national rankings and he won the 2017 Bubba Conlee Championship with rounds of 66, 70 and 69. He was also runner up at the AJGA Junior at Penn State in 2017 and finished in the top five at the 2018 AJGA Colonial Junior. At Old Bridge High School in New Jersey, Sul was named the 2017 Greater Middlesex Conference Boys Golfer of the Year and works with 2016 PGA National Teacher of the Year Mike Adams.
This year's edition of the DePaul golf team returns to the course in 2019 starting with the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play on Feb. 11-12 in Dade City, Fla. The Blue Demons have finished in the top three in three of the last four years at the BIG EAST Championship and look to make a run at the conference title from April 26-28 at Callawassie Island Club in Okatie, S.C.
