Blue Demons Tied for Sixth at Loyola Intercollegiate

GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Darkness halted the final group in the second round on Sunday as day one of the Loyola (Md.) Intercollegiate concluded at Palm Valley Golf Club. The Blue Demons were able to complete their 36 holes and sit in a tie for sixth with the final group ready to finalize the second round Monday morning.
DePaul and host Loyola (Md.) are in a tie for sixth place among the 19 program competing in Arizona. Freddy Thomas is tied for 13th and Bobby Thomas is tied for 16th to lead the DePaul contingent. Freddy Thomas carded rounds of 68 (-4) and 69 (-3) on Sunday while Bobby Thomas recorded scores of 68 (-4) and 70 (-2).
Joe McCarthy, Carlo Antonio Gatmaytan and Garret Buckley are in 40th, 56th and 65th place after 36 holes. McCarthy shot a 72 (E) and a 71 (-1) while Gatmaytan fired a 72 (E) and 73 (+1). Buckley posted a 78 (+6) in the first round before an impressive comeback in the second circuit with a score of 68 (-4).
As a team, DePaul has a score of 558 (-18) while the College of Charleston leads the field with a score of 546 (-30). Danny Gorman of SIU-Edwardsville is in first on the individual leaderboard with a 12-under score of 132.
Following the conclusion of the second round on Monday morning, the third round will start as each team plays its final 18 holes at Palm Valley.
