
Blue Demons Wrap up FAU Spring Break Championship

BOCA RATON, Fla. - The DePaul golf team concluded play on Sunday with Joe McCarthy putting together the best round of the tournament. McCarthy went three-under par on Sunday while the Blue Demons finished in 11th place.
Garret Buckley was the top individual finisher for DePaul in a tie for 41st place. He finished the tournament with a 74 (+2) for a three-round score of 219 (+3). Buckley was followed by Charlie Spencer-White, Carlo Antonio Gatmaytan and McCarthy all in a group in 50th place with total scores of 221 (+5).
McCarthy's 69 (-3) on Sunday was the best round of the tournament by a DePaul player while Gatmaytan carded a 72 (E) and Spencer-White finished with a 75 (+3) on Sunday.
Kyle Vincze was a shot behind the trio and tied for 58th as he carded a 71 (-1) in the third round for a 54-hole total of 222 (+6). Individually, Perry Chong shot a 76 (+4) in the third round and totaled 233 (+17) and Ronnie Griggs finished the event with an 86 (+14) and tournament score of 260 (+44).
Lynn University won the team title with a tournament score of 826 (-38) while the Blue Demons posted a team score of 876 (+12) for 11th place. DePaul put together its best team round of the tournament on Sunday with a score of 286 (-2). Connecticut's Jimmy Hervol won medalist honors with a three-round score of 201 (-15).
DePaul returns to competition in the Midwest next weekend for the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate. The three-round, two-day event is March 31 and April 1 at Weibring Golf Club in Normal, Ill. and the tournament is hosted by Illinois State.
