Blue Demons Honored for 10th Straight Year by GCAA

DePaul named All-Academic Team and earns President's Special Recognition
CHICAGO – The DePaul men's golf team was honored for the 10th straight year by the Golf Coaches Association of America with the 18Birdies All-Academic Team award. In addition to the All-Academic Team recognition, the Blue Demons also achieved President's Special Recognition status for a cumulative team grade point average of 3.5 or better.
The Blue Demons were one of 24 Division I programs to earn the President's Special Recognition and the only honoree from the BIG EAST. A total of 127 Division I program were named to the All-Academic Team list for having a cumulative team GPA of at least 3.0. Georgetown, Marquette, Seton Hall, Villanova and Xavier joined DePaul on the All-Academic Team award list.
New Mexico (Division I), Bellarmine (Division II), Swarthmore (Division III), Bethel (Kan.) (NAIA), Dodge City (NJCAA DI) and South Mountain (NJCAA DII) have been named 18Birdies Academic National Champions for their respective divisions. South Mountain posted the highest overall team GPA for all divisions with a 3.78. A record total of 222 teams submitted GPAs of 3.00 or higher to earn All-Academic Team recognition from all divisions.
Since the GCAA poll began in 2009, the Blue Demons have etched academic honors every year. DePaul was crowned the Division I academic national champions in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2014 and was also awarded the President's Special Recognition award in 2013 for having a team GPA over 3.5. In 2009, 2015, 2016 and 2017, DePaul earned All-Academic Team honors.
To be eligible for the GCAA All-Academic Team, a college or university must submit the GPAs for each player on its official squad list for the academic year.
