Red Line Rivalry Returns Tuesday

Tuesday's match marks 36th meeting between DePaul and Loyola Chicago
CHICAGO - The latest installment of the Red Line Rivalry will take place at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon at Wish Field between the DePaul Blue Demons and the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers.Â
The all-time series sits at 17-14-4, advantage Loyola. The two teams play have played each other once every year, dating back to 1981. DePaul hasn't seen a victory since 2013, settling for two draws (2014 and 2017) and two losses (2015 and 2016).Â
The Blue Demons (4-3) are coming off a huge victory over Providence, 2-1, in a double overtime. DePaul got on the board 1-0 in the fourth minute thanks to sophomore midfielder Istvan Wilhelms. While Providence scored the equalizer in the 51st minute, the game was tied for another 46 minutes until Wilhelms would tap the ball past the goalkeeper to secure the win for DePaul. This marks the first ever win for DePaul over Providence, putting the Blue Demons third in the BIG EAST standings.Â
Loyola (2-3) sits tied for fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference following a shutout victory over SIUE, 2-0. Those two goals came in the first six minutes of the match. Goalkeeper Josh Lagudah recorded his second shutout after posting eight saves against SIUE. Lagudah has only played three games this season, but leads the conference in shutouts (2), goals against average (.667) and save percentage (.857).Â
