Cerny posted the lone goal for the Blue Demons
MILWAUKEE - The DePaul women's soccer team fell to the Milwaukee Panthers on Sunday, 2-1, in their first road game of the month.
The Blue Demons (3-2-0) held off the Panthers (4-0-0) for the first half, but found themselves behind 1-0 just three minutes into the second half. DePaul would fight back and score an equalizer in 53rd minute - senior forward Franny Cerny put one past the goalkeeper not five minutes later with the help of senior midfielder Madeline Frick and senior midfielder Elizabeth Parrilli.Â
The game-winner came in the 72nd minute when the Panthers snagged a long ball off of freshman goalkeeper Mollie Eriksson's foot and put it into the center of the net.Â
Two yellow cards were handed out to Milwaukee, who won 10 corner kicks compared to DePaul's seven. The Blue Demons outshot the Panthers 16-12, with both teams attempting eight shots on goal. Cerny took seven of those 16 shots, and five of the eight on goal - a season high. Erikkson would make five saves in the net for the Blue Demons Sunday.
