The all-time series record sits at 9-7-1
CHICAGO - The DePaul women's soccer team (3-2-0) will host the Loyola Chicago Ramblers (3-3-0) at Wish Field on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. in the 18th meeting of the Red Line Rivalry. The Ramblers have a two game lead in the all-time series record, 9-7-1. The Blue Demons will also welcome the Loyola Marymount Lions to Wish Field at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday to end the week.Â
Coming off a split weekend including a Big Ten takedown at Minnesota, 1-0, and a 2-1 loss at Milwaukee that ended their three-game win streak, the Blue Demons go into this weekend's matches with a 3-2-0 record. Sophomore Jackie Batliner scored the game winner at Minnesota on Thursday and standout senior Franny Cerny scored the goal against Milwaukee on Sunday. Rookie netminder Mollie Erikkson (2-2) has been a force to be reckoned with between the pipes, making 13 saves so far this season with a save percentage of 0.722.Â
Last Time Out
Against Loyola, DePaul head coach Erin Chastain has a 6-4-1 record. However, the Ramblers have yet to claim victory at Wish Field since the 2012 season. Going into the match, the Blue Demons are looking to rebound off of last year's 2-0 loss at Loyola Soccer Park. Loyola struck first in the 16th minute and to no defensive avail, netted the insurance goal in the 83rd minute.Â
Scouting the Ramblers
Loyola Chicago also had a split weekend, shutting out Purdue Fort Wayne 4-0 but falling to Big 12 foe No. 14/13 Oklahoma State, 2-0 on Sunday. Four Ramblers found the back of the net in Friday's game and freshman goalkeeper Maddie Hausmann made her collegiate debut in the second half of their tangle with the Cowgirls making three saves. The Ramblers were voted as the favorite in the Missouri Valley Conference's preseason coaches' poll, receiving five of eight possible first places votes. They return 19 letterwinners and 8 starters, including the force of Jenna Szczesny, Abby Swanson and Madison Kimball who lead the team in goals, assists and shots.Â
Scouting the Lions
LMU (2-3-1) is on a trip through Chicago, playing Northwestern on Thursday and visiting Wish Field on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. They are coming off a 0-2 weekend, dropping a contest against UC Irvine on Friday and Indiana on Sunday - both with a score of 2-1. The Lions average 1.17 goals per game.Â
