Blue Demons Break Even at Frank Beeman Invite

Each of DePaul's two-man teams split their matches on Saturday
EAST LANSING, Mich. – Each of DePaul's two-man teams split their matches Saturday in the unique setup at the Frank Beeman Invite hosted by Michigan State.
The tournament format has doubles teams competing in one draw. Each match consists of a set of doubles and two singles matches each worth one point with the team winning two of three points advancing.
Each team plays a six-game set of doubles followed by two matches of singles with a 10-point tiebreaker in lieu of a third set.
Boris Spanjaard and Christopher Casati began their day getting swept by Michigan State 3-0, but bounced back with a 2-1 victory over another Spartans team. Spanjaard and Casati each won their singles matches and advance to Sunday's North Bracket fifth-place match.
Tripp Tuff and Tamas Zador opened Saturday with a 3-0 loss to Marquette. They also rebounded in their second match with a 2-1 win over Michigan State. Tuff and Zador won their singles matches and advance to the South Bracket fifth-place match.
Luuk Wassenaar and Lars Peder Minsaas started out with a 2-1 victory over Indiana as Wassenaar won his singles match and the Blue Demons advanced with a doubles win. They fell in the next round to Iowa 3-0.
