Blue Demons Roll in Exhibition Game

DePaul puts six players in double figures Tuesday night at Wintrust Arena
CHICAGO - The Blue Demons put six players in double figures en route to a 110-22 win over Marian (Wis.) on Tuesday night in an exhibition game. Paul Reed scored 19 points as DePaul prepped for next Tuesday's season opener against Alcorn State.
Charlie Moore scored 15 points, Jalen Coleman-Lands added 14 and Romeo Weems scored 12 points for DePaul. Jaylen Butz and Flynn Cameron chipped in 10 points each as 12 different players scored in the game.
The Blue Demons jumped out to an early 6-3 lead as Weems scored four quick points before a time out stopped action with 15:19 to play in the opening half.
Just over a minute later, DePaul opened its first double-digit lead of the game as a Markese Jacobs three pushed the advantage to 14-3. Four minutes later, with 10:20 to go in the first half, the DePaul lead extended to 21 as Butz finished a lob pass from Moore.
The Blue Demons would keep their foot on the gas pedal, using a 28-0 run to help push the advantage up to 46 points at 57-11 at intermission.
DePaul shot 71 percent (22-31) from the field over the opening 20 minutes. All 10 Blue Demons who entered the game scored at least one point with Moore (11), Reed (10) and Weems (10) leading the way.
Out of the half, the Blue Demons scored the first 11 points and remained in control for the rest of the evening. DePaul held an 87-17 lead midway through the second half before settling on the 110-22 final.
DePaul returns to action next Tuesday to open the 2019-20 season. Alcorn State travels to Wintrust Arena for a 8 p.m. tip. The opening week is busy for the Blue Demons with three games in the first four days of the season. Following the Nov. 5 opener against Alcorn State, DePaul hosts the University of Chicago on Nov. 6 and Fairleigh Dickinson on Nov. 8.
