CHICAGO - DePaul women's soccer fought a hard battle against Villanova in the BIG EAST Quarterfinals but fell, 1-0, and concluded the 2019 season with a 8-8-3 overall record and a 5-3-1 record in BIG EAST play.
Playing most of the first half on defense, Mollie Eriksson made her five saves within the first 25 minutes of play. It wasn't until the 28th minute the Wildcats would slip one past her and into the net to take a 1-0 lead off the game-winning goal from Shannon Casey.
The Blue Demons came out in the second half and found a plethora of opportunities. Jade Eriksen-Russo fired off two shots on goal while Morgan Turner's strike sailed within inches of the crossbar after Villanova keeper Rebecca Gartner got the slightest touch. Gartner would make five saves on the day.
DePaul was outshot 10-9 by Villanova and each team took four corners.
