Morris Garners Second BIG EAST Weekly Award

Sophomore named to Honor Roll again after averaging 20 points and five rebounds
CHICAGO – No. 16/17 DePaul was recognized by the BIG EAST Conference for the fourth week in a row when Sonya Morris was selected to the BIG EAST Honor Roll on Monday.
This was the second weekly award for Morris after one of the league's top-six performances. Teammate Chante Stonewall is also a two-time Honor Roll recipient.
The high-octane sophomore guard began the week with 18 points, six assists, five rebounds and four steals leading the Blue Demons to a 94-65 victory over Milwaukee.
She scored the winning basket and finished with 22 points, five rebounds and three assists in a 70-68 road win on Sunday against RV/RV Northwestern. Morris knocked down 10 of her 14 shots at Welsh-Ryan Arena.
For the week, Morris averaged 20 points, five rebounds and 2.5 steals in helping DePaul improve to 6-1 riding a four-game winning streak. On the season, she is averaging 16.4 points a game and is second on the team in assists.
Creighton's Jalyn Agnew repeated as BIG EAST Player of the Week as the league's top scorer in a 2-0 week averaging 24.5 points off 50-percent shooting in victories over No. 23/RV West Virginia and Temple in Cancun.
The senior went for a career-high 34 points, knocking down 13-of-19 attempts from the field including 6-of-11 from deep as the Bluejays upset the 23rd-ranked Mountaineers. She added 15 points, five rebounds and three assists against the Owls as Creighton completed a perfect week in Mexico. St. John's guard Leilani Correa was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week
Morris was joined on the Honor Roll by Brianna Jones (Georgetown), Selena Lott (Marquette), Alissa Alston (St. John's) and Alexa Lewis (Seton Hall).
DePaul goes for its fifth win in a row at 1 p.m. Saturday at Green Bay against a Phoenix team that upset No. 18/16 Syracuse 79-73 in overtime over the weekend.
