DePaul Wrecks Tech in Overtime for Ninth Straight Win

Jalen Coleman-Lands sends game into extra frame with three-pointer
CHICAGO - There was no quit in DePaul Wednesday night. Trailing by six points with 3:19 left in regulation and then again by four points with 2:08 left in overtime, the Blue Demons came roaring back twice to stay undefeated in a 65-60 win over Texas Tech at Wintrust Arena.
Jalen Coleman-Lands led DePaul with 18 points, including a game-tying three-pointer with 11 seconds left in regulation and eight massive points in overtime to help the Blue Demons to the win. Paul Reed finished with 18 points and seven rebounds while Jaylen Butz added 17 points and seven boards.
Texas Tech opened a four-point lead at 57-53 with 2:09 remaining in overtime, but DePaul had an answer. Coleman-Lands knocked down a three to pull DePaul within one. On Texas Tech's next possession, the Blue Demons forced an offensive foul, setting up a Romeo Weems dunk on the next possession to move in front, 58-57. Tech's Terrence Shannon would knock down a three to give the visitor's the lead back, but with 55 seconds left on the clock, Coleman-Lands came off a screen, knocking down an arena-shaking three-pointer to put DePaul ahead, 61-60.
In the final seconds, the Red Raiders could not get any of their shots to fall, setting up Coleman-Lands and then Moore for game clinching free throws down the stretch. The guards would combine to go 4-for-4 from the line as the Blue Demons built their lead to five points before time expired.
Texas Tech (5-3) was led by Shannon's 24 points and eight rebounds while Kyler Edwards finished with 12 points.
The Red Raiders would find a rhythm and just under eight minutes into the game, Texas Tech doubled the Blue Demons total at 14-7 as Edwards knocked down a three-pointer. However, a put back lay up from quickly Reed cut the deficit to five with 12:33 on the clock, before two big plays from Butz, first a massive put back dunk and then a layup off a feed from Moore, pulled the Blue Demons within three, 16-13 as a timeout stopped action on the floor with 7:25 to play.
Out of the halftime break, after a quick two points from Texas Tech, Reed finished through contact for an old-fashioned three point play to pull DePaul within two points at 28-26. With just over 16 minutes on the clock, Moore found Butz in transition for a lay-up off a lob pass, tying the affair at 30 points. A minute and a half later, DePaul took its' first lead of the second half as Coleman-Lands went back up with a rebound to make it 32-30 in favor of DePaul.
Over the next six minutes and change the two teams engaged in a defensive battle with neither team giving an inch. During this stretch the score was tied at 32 points, 34 points, 36 points and 38 points with the score standing at 38-38 with 7:56 remaining on the clock.
Down the stretch, Texas Tech would open up a six point lead at 50-44 with 3:16 to play as Shannon knocked down a step back three from atop the three point arc.
However, over the final three minutes the Blue Demons inched their way back into the game. First a Coleman-Lands up and under lay-up with 2:50 to play made it 50-46. Then a Butz put back with 1:09 made it 50-48. Texas Tech would score, making it 52-48 but a Butz dunk brought DePaul back within two at 52-50.
With the shot clock turned off DePaul fouled Tech's Davide Morreti who made his first free throw, while missing the second, setting up the Blue Demons with the ball, trailing by three.

Texas Tech would have one more chance to win the game in regulation but Moore poked the ball free, recovering the ball as time expired and the game went into overtime.
