Blue Demons on the road to face Northern Illinois Friday and Indiana on Sunday
CHICAGO – Following Blue Demon women's basketball coach Doug Bruno's strategy of facing a heavy-duty nonconference schedule to have his team at its best for the conference tournament, DePaul women's tennis is in the midst of a demanding dual-match season.
Coach Mark Ardizzone's program has already collided with four teams that compete in Power Five conferences along with two BIG EAST rivals. The Blue Demons have three more top-50 tennis programs in their upcoming schedule.
Senior Keisha Clousing is off to a great start in the dual season, matching up against the No. 1 player from some formidable tennis programs. She has two victories over nationally ranked opponents from Minnesota and Iowa.
And it doesn't get any easier for the standout from Wheaton Warrenville South. Clousing will confront three more ranked players in the next two weekends.
DePaul (3-6) heads to Rockford, Ill. on Friday for a match against Northern Illinois at the Boylan Tennis Center with first serve at noon. NIU comes in with a 2-5 record with wins over Milwaukee and Green Bay and losses to Marquette, Wisconsin, Bradley, North Dakota State and Chicago State.
On Sunday, the Blue Demons are in Bloomington, Ind. for a showdown against the talented Hoosiers at the IU Tennis Center that begins at 10 a.m. Indiana (6-4) has victories over Cincinnati, Marquette, Butler,
James Madison, Saint Louis and Western Michigan and losses to Xavier, Notre Dame, Tennessee and Kentucky.
