CBI Continues Monday Night at McGrath-Phillips Arena

CHICAGO - DePaul hosts Longwood in the quarterfinals of the 2019 Roman College Basketball Invitational. Both teams posted first round wins with DePaul defeating Central Michigan and Longwood knocking off Southern Miss. The game between the Blue Demons and Lancers will be played at McGrath-Phillips Arena on DePaul's Lincoln Park campus. Monday's winner advances to the semifinals on either Wednesday or Thursday against an opponent to be determined.

Start time Monday at McGrath-Phillips Arena is set for 7 p.m. The game can be seen on NBC Sports Chicago Plus with Dave Bernhard (play-by-play) and Dave Corzine (analyst) calling the action. Longwood is 16-17 overall this season and finished 5-11 in the Big South Conference. The Lancers enter the game following a 90-68 win against Southern Miss in the CBI first round. The Blue Demons are 16-15 and went 7-11 in the BIG EAST. DePaul advanced in the CBI after a 100-86 victory against Central Michigan. DePaul head coach Dave Leitao is in his seventh season at DePaul and his fourth since returning to the program after leading the Blue Demons three postseasons in three years from 2002-05. Overall, the 2018-19 campaign is Leitao's 13th as a head coach at the collegiate level. Longwood is led by Griff Aldrich who is in his first season leading the Lancers and first season overall as a head coach at the collegiate level.

CBI Setup: The Roman College Basketball Invitational is a 16-team postseason tournament that is hosted at on-campus facilities. In its 12th year, the format consists of eight first round games, four quarterfinal matchups and two semifinals before a best-of-three series between the two final teams.

Following the quarterfinal round, the bracket will be reorganized for the semifinals that will be played on either Wednesday or Thursday. Other quarterfinal games include: Coastal Carolina at West Virginia (6 p.m. CT), Utah Valley at South Florida (6 p.m. CT) and Brown at Loyola Marymount (9 p.m. CT).

McGrath in March: DePaul is 13-3 all-time in games at McGrath-Phillips Arena with Monday's contest as the second game in Lincoln Park since December 2016. Prior to Wintrust Arena opening for the 2017-18 season, DePaul would play select non-conference games on campus.

DePaul also hosted a first round NIT game at McGrath-Phillips Arena with an 83-71 win over Hofstra on March 14, 2007.

DePaul has 2,406 points with the 1977-78 team at 2,461... the 212 threes are currently fourth with the 2006-07 team ahead in fourth with 218... Femi Olujobi needs two points for 1,000 in his collegiate career and eight rebounds for 500 career... he scored 76 at Oakland (Mich.), 523 at North Carolina A&T and has 399 at DePaul... Olujobi has grabbed 162 rebounds at DePaul after totaling 85 at Oakland and 245 at North Carolina A&T... with 14 points, Eli Cain moves into 10th on DePaul's all-time scoring list... with 22 points, Max Strus becomes the seventh player in program history to score at least 600 points in a season... 23 points will move Strus from 45th to 38th place on the all-time scoring list.

Trendy: DePaul has outrebounded the opponent in 23 of 31 games... the Blue Demons are 16-7 in those games and 0-8 when getting outrebounded... in BIG EAST play, DePaul was 6-4 in weekend games (4-3 on Saturday, 2-1 on Sunday)... only Stanley Brundy has recorded a better season field goal percentage than Femi Olujobi's .619 (143-231) mark this season... in BIG EAST games, Paul Reed went 44-of-48 (.917) at the free throw line.
