Finish BIG EAST play against Villanova on Saturday and Creighton on Sunday
CHICAGO – DePaul women's tennis is traveling to Omaha, Neb. to close out the regular season.
The Blue Demons will encounter a pair of BIG EAST Conference adversaries at the Hansoom Indoor Tennis Center on Creighton's campus.
First up at 2 p.m. Saturday is Villanova which has won its last six matches and faces Creighton just prior to the match with DePaul.
Less than 24 hours later, coach Mark Ardizzone and his team will take on the Bluejays at 11 a.m. on their home court.
DePaul (6-11, 4-2 in the BIG EAST) is coming off a split last weekend, knocking off conference foe Seton Hall 4-3 before dropping a league match against St. John's by a 4-1 score.
Ardizzone & Co. is concluding the dual-match regular season with six consecutive conference matches in advance of the BIG EAST Tennis Championships April 18-21 at Cayce, S.C. Two weeks ago, the Blue Demons topped Marquette 4-3 before falling 6-1 at Xavier. In earlier league play, they swept Georgetown and Butler in late January.
Keisha Clousing leads DePaul in the dual season with a 9-5 singles record while Alina Kuzmenkova is 4-4. Clousing has paired with Lenka Antonijevic for a 6-4 doubles mark, and the Milica Tesic/Maddie Yergler duo is 3-1.
Villanova (9-7, 3-2) has won its last three league matches. Creighton comes into the weekend with a 7-11 record, 1-2 in conference. The Bluejays have won the last two matches and three of their last four.
