Gutierrez, Dalgarn Land BIG EAST Weekly Awards

Gutierrez picks up first award, Dalgarn's second
CHICAGO - Maranda Gutierrez scored her first BIG EAST accolade of the season while Krista Dalgarn earned her second after both player's stellar efforts contributed to a DePaul doubleheader sweep of Providence over the weekend.Â
This week's BIG EAST Player of the Week Gutierrez scored four runs, notched three RBIs and blasted two home runs on Saturday. The sophomore shortstop holds the league's top slugging percentage of 1.250 and went 4-for-8 in the two games combined for a .500 batting average.Â
Dalgarn (12-4) landed on the Weekly Honor Roll after taking home the win in the first game of the doubleheader. The junior pitcher posted a 0.00 ERA and opposing batting average of .100. She gave up only two hits and two walks and struck out four in the 8-0 victory.Â

Gutierrez guided the Blue Demons to a doubleheader sweep of Providence on Saturday. She went 4-for-8 in the two games for an average of .500 and a slugging percentage of 1.250, which was at the top of the league. The sophomore scored four runs, three RBI, and connected on a home run in each game to lead DePaul's offense.
