CHICAGO - In their first overtime contest of the 2019 season, DePaul women's soccer fought to a 1-1 draw against the Bowling Green Falcons on Wish Field Sunday afternoon.
Throughout a back-and-forth first half that saw three yellow cards for the Falcons, DePaul (3-4-1) would be outshot 4-2 before the ball would find the back of the net.
Bowling Green (2-3-2) took the lead just before the half in the 32nd minute when Nikhita Jacob headed the ball in right over DePaul keeper Mollie Eriksson's hands. Alexis Miller would be credited with the assist on the goal.
After going into halftime down a goal, DePaul would make adjustments with an intense, quicker paced style of play. It would pay off just a couple minutes into halftime, when Morgan Turner took a pass from Kristin Boos and blasted a shot off her left foot into the top left corner of the net past Kathleen Duwve to tie the game.
With both teams hustling to get the go-ahead goal would come the end of the second half and overtime for the Blue Demons.
DePaul had two great chances on goal from Boos, would have one sail just over the top of the net and another saved. The freshman put up six shots on the day, while Turner would have two. Eriksson would tally up four saves in goal.
The Falcons' Duwve would also notch four saves with Jacob and Kennedy White each firing off two shots apiece.
