Morris Earns Fourth BIG EAST Weekly Award

Sophomore guard named to Honor Roll after notching first career double-double
CHICAGO – After coming away with the first double-double of her career, Sonya Morris was recognized by the BIG EAST Conference on Monday.
The DePaul sophomore was named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll signifying she had one of the top six performances in the league last week.
The Blue Demons needed every bit of Morris' 17 points, career-high 11 rebounds and four assists in Sunday's 74-69 victory over a quick and talented St. John's team.
Two days earlier, Morris helped lead No. 14/17 DePaul (15-2, 5-0) to an 85-68 win over Seton Hall with 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting. The 5-foot, 10-inch guard has a been a key component in the Blue Demons' six-game winning streak.
On the season, Morris is averaging 16.2 points a game---second on the team to Chante Stonewall (18.1). Morris leads the team in three-pointers with 38 and is shooting an impressive 38 percent from behind the arc.
This is her fourth BIG EAST weekly accolade including Player of the Week on Dec. 16.
Marquette junior Selena Lott won her first career BIG EAST Player of the Week certificate after leading the conference in scoring and tying for the lead in assists in a 2-0 week for the Golden Eagles. Lott went for a career-high 34 points and added seven assists in Marquette's win over St. John's on Friday. She followed up with 19 points, eight rebounds and six assists in Sunday's win over Seton Hall.
For the week, Lott averaged 26.5 points, 6.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 61.3 percent and knocking down nearly 42 percent of her attempts from beyond the arc.
Villanova freshman Maddy Siegrist picked up her seventh BIG EAST Freshman of the Week honor of the year after averaging a double-double in a 1-1 weekend for the Wildcats.
DePaul is back in action on Friday with a 6 p.m. game at Xavier.
