DePaul hosts Western Michigan on Friday and Illinois State on Sunday
CHICAGO – Everything takes on even more significance this weekend as the DePaul women's tennis team opens up the dual-match season with a pair of head-to-head showdowns at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness.
The defending BIG EAST champion will debut against Western Michigan on Friday night with first serve at 7 p.m.
Two days later, the Blue Demons will welcome Illinois State to Lincoln Park.
Western Michigan comes to town with a 1-1 record, having defeated Oakland 4-3 before falling to Cleveland State by the same score.
ISU opens its dual season Friday at home against Eastern Illinois before making the drive to Chicago.
Coach Marisa Arce and her team will be ready to carry over the momentum from last weekend's sterling performance at the Indiana Winter Invitational that saw the Blue Demons finish with a 13-2 singles record in two days of competition.
Leading the way in Bloomington, Ind. was freshman Hristina Djokic who missed the fall tournament season recovering from an injury.
Djokic was honored as the BIG EAST Athlete of the Week for women's tennis after winning both of her singles matches and going 3-1 in doubles teaming with Marija Jovicic.
