Visiting St. John's Defeats DePaul on Saturday

Charlie Moore scores 20 and Paul Reed adds his 14th double-double to lead Blue Demons
CHICAGO - Paul Reed recorded his 14th double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds, and Charlie Moore finished with a team-high 20 points as DePaul fell to St. John's, 79-66, on Saturday afternoon at Wintrust Arena.
Rounding out the Blue Demons in double figures, Jalen Coleman-Lands chipped in with 15 points while Moore added seven rebounds and five assists to his 20 points. Reed also finished the game with three blocked shots.
As a team, DePaul (13-7, 1-6 BIG EAST) struggled shooting en route to a .308 (20-65) effort from the field while connecting on just 4-of-25 (.160) from three-point land.
A three-pointer from Coleman-Lands tied the scoring at three a minute into the action, as Reed followed his teammates' long ball with a dunk and a blocked shot to get DePaul started early. With 16:30 on the clock, Reed used a jab step to free himself for a jump shot to put the Blue Demons ahead 7-5. Then, on DePaul's next time down the floor, a Moore three pointer made it 10-5.
With 11:38 to play, Reed took down a rebound before throwing a full court baseball pass that found Moore in stride for a layup, making it 18-13. However, St. John's (13-8, 2-6 BIG EAST) would stick around and just past the nine-minute mark of the first half, an 8-0 run gave the visitors a 21-18 edge.
With 4:36 on the clock, a driving Coleman-Lands found Jaylen Butz for a two-handed dunk through traffic. Then, with 3:12 to play, a Coleman-Lands three from the top of the arc pulled DePaul within one at 31-30. On DePaul's next possession, Reed gave DePaul its' first lead since 10:34 in the first half, before sending a Red Storm attempt flying back for a highlight reel block.
DePaul would move in front 34-31 on a Darious Hall lay-up with 1:16 to play, but a LJ Figueroa three-pointer with 10 seconds left sent the two teams into the break tied at 34.
Out of the intermission, the Red Storm took a nine-point lead at 47-38. St. John's would build its lead to as many as 10, but DePaul stuck around and with 10:11 left in the game, two Reed free throws made it 52-44 in favor of the visitors.
Just under a minute and a half later, Moore navigated his way through traffic in the fast break, cutting the deficit to six points at 56-50. Then with 7:40 on the clock, Moore pulled DePaul within four as the junior point guard went behind his back, stopping on a dime for a short jump shot.
Out of the media timeout, Reed would come down with an offensive board, before getting fouled going up for two, as the junior big man connected on one of two from the charity stripe to pull within three points.
However, down the stretch, the Red Storm would build their lead back to eight points with 5:07 to play, and in the closing minutes, DePaul could not get closer than six points.
For the Red Storm, Figueroa led all scorers with 28 points, while Mustapha Heron chipped in with 20.
DePaul returns to action on Wednesday as the Blue Demons travel to New Jersey for a 6:30 p.m. ET tip at Seton Hall. The game can be seen on FS1 and heard in Chicago on WYLL (1160 AM).
