BIG EAST Adjusts Women's Basketball Schedule

No. 18/23 DePaul travels to face No. 3/5 Connecticut on Dec. 29
CHICAGO – Just four days after the BIG EAST announced the remainder of No. 18/23 DePaul's schedule, the conference released adjustments on Tuesday.
In a sign of the times as the NCAA basketball world tries to play its way through a raging global pandemic even as a new strain of COVID-19 is spreading throughout the United Kingdom, the newly revised schedules involve the Blue Demons, Connecticut, Georgetown, Seton Hall and Marquette.
Coach Doug Bruno and his team will now travel to No. 3/5 UConn on Dec. 29 for a showdown of the two teams that headlined the preseason coaches poll. This replaces the originally scheduled Feb. 21 date.
Five days later, DePaul heads north of the state border to face longtime rival Marquette on Jan. 3 in the Al McGuire Center. This replaces the game that had been scheduled for Feb. 7
On Jan. 7, it's back on the road heading to historic Hinkle Fieldhouse to play Butler.
Including Tuesday night's encounter at Creighton, the Blue Demons have the unenviable task of playing four consecutive BIG EAST games away from the South Loop.
In any other year, one could rationalize that there is some benefit to getting the toughest part of your schedule done early.
But in a season of such absolute uncertainty, there is no way of knowing if Bruno & Co. will eventually cash in on the back-loaded surplus of home games. As of now, DePaul is scheduled to play five of its final six league games at Wintrust Arena.
All the Blue Demons can do is stay in the moment and focus on the challenge at hand---a dangerous Creighton team with tipoff at 8 p.m. Tuesday in Sokol Arena in front of a national TV audience on FS1.
