Blue Demons win doubles point in West Lafayette, Ind.
WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – It just wasn't DePaul's day on Friday.
The Blue Demons got off to a good start by securing the doubles point but could not follow up in a 6-1 setback to Purdue.
Lenka Antonijevic and Yuliya Kizelbasheva opened double play with a 6-1 win over Seira Shimizu and Nikol Dobrilova at the No. 1 position.
Purdue (4-5) prevailed at No. 3, leaving the doubles point in the hands of Aspasia Avgeri and Maddie Yergler who came through in fine fashion with a nail-biting 7-6 (6) victory over Nathalia Wolf Gasparin and Zala Dovnik.
The Boilermakers responded by winning all six singles matches.
DePaul will be ready to bounce back on Saturday with a neutral-court match against Tulsa at Purdue's Schwartz Tennis Center.
