DePaul Falls to No. 12/13 Villanova

Blue Demons drop BIG EAST game to visiting Wildcats
CHICAGO – Visiting No. 12/13 Villanova was sizzling from the outside as DePaul fell, 91-71, on Wednesday night at Wintrust Arena. Jalen Coleman-Lands led the Blue Demons with 17 points while Paul Reed added 13 points.
The game was tight early with the Wildcats holding a slim 13-12 advantage. Villanova opened up a lead with a 13-2 run and led 26-14 with 9:22 left in the first half.
Villanova (20-6, 9-4 BIG EAST) continued the pressure from outside as they made eight of their first 10 three-point attempts before finishing the first half going 10-of-13 from behind the arc. The Wildcats went up 29-15 before the Blue Demons reeled off six straight points to close to within eight with 6:26 left before halftime.
DePaul (13-13, 1-12 BIG EAST) scored eight of the first 13 points of the second half, but would get no closer over the remainder of the game as Villanova finished the evening going 18-for-26 from three-point range in the 91-71 final.
Coleman-Lands added four rebounds and three assists while Reed grabbed seven boards with two assists. Jaylen Butz and Charlie Moore each scored eight points while Flynn Cameron scored seven points off the bench.
Saddiq Bey led all scorers with 20 points while Collin Gillespie and Justin Moore scored 17 points apiece.
The Blue Demons return to Wintrust Arena on Saturday night to face Georgetown at 8 p.m. Saturday's game can be seen on FS1 and heard on WIND (560 AM).
