
Blue Demons Open BIG EAST Season on Thursday

Face Golden Eagles in Milwaukee and return home for Sunday match against Xavier
CHICAGO – The DePaul women's tennis team opens its BIG EAST Conference season Thursday with a 5 p.m. road match against Marquette in Milwaukee.
Three days later, the Blue Demons return to Lakeshore Sport & Fitness for a league matchup against Xavier with first serve at 4 p.m.
DePaul (4-6) has four common opponents with the Golden Eagles, going 2-2 with wins against Western Michigan and Michigan State and losses to Wisconsin and Iowa.
Against those same teams, Marquette (5-5, 1-0) is 1-3 with a victory over Western Michigan and losses to Michigan State, Wisconsin and Iowa.
Xavier (5-5) shares two common opponents with the Blue Demons. The Musketeers lost to Purdue and Michigan State while DePaul split those two matches.
Yuliya Kizelbasheva heads up the singles competition in the dual-match season with a record of 6-3. The freshman from Russia is 15-7 overall.
Lenka Antonijevic is 5-4 in the dual season and 13-8 overall while Maddie Yergler is 3-2, 12-6. Aspasia Avgeri is 16-10 overall and 4-6 in dual matches.
Kizelbasheva and Antonijevic have been a winning combination in doubles with a 17-10 overall mark including 6-4 in duals at the No. 1 position. Marija Jovicic and Hristina Djokic are 9-2 overall and 6-1 in the dual season at No. 3 doubles.
