DePaul Renews Red Line Rivalry with Loyola

The Blue Demons face the Ramblers at 7:00pm Sunday in Rockford
CHICAGO – DePaul men's soccer heads back to Rockford, Ill. Sunday night to take on Loyola-Chicago at 7p.m. CT. The Blue Demons are set for the 2021 edition of the Red Line Rivalry after battling to a draw with Northern Illinois in the season opener on Wednesday.
The Blue Demons and Ramblers will match up on Sunday for the 38th time ever and the Blue Demons will be looking for their 15th win in the series. DePaul holds a 14-19-4 all-time record against the Ramblers and two of the last three meetings have needed overtime to be decided.
In the regular season opener, the Blue Demons were led offensively by junior forward Jake Fuderer who scored a pair of goals in the second half against the Huskies. After falling behind 1-0, Fuderer scored from the penalty spot in the 60th minute before finding the back of the net again just four and a half minutes later. Fuderer collected his first multi-goal game of his career and the first for the Blue Demons since David Gripman scored twice against Northern Illinois on Aug. 30, 2019.
The Ramblers will enter Sunday's match with a 1-1 record after falling to Marquette in their season opener and defeating Northern Illinois, 2-0, on Sunday, Feb. 14. The Ramblers have allowed only one goal through their pair of games this season with the lone tally coming as an overtime strike by the Marquette Golden Eagles in the season-opener.
After Sunday's match, DePaul will complete its three-game non-conference slate with a trip to Indianapolis, Ind. on Friday, Feb. 26 to take on Western Michigan.
