Men's Tennis Opens 2020-21 Season on Friday

Welcome UIC to Lakeshore Sport & Fitness, visit Western Michigan on Sunday
CHICAGO – After the NCAA canceled spring sports last year in the face of a global pandemic, DePaul men's tennis will swing back into action this weekend.
Coach Matt Brothers and his team with everyone back from last season will open up against intra-city rival Illinois Chicago at 7:15 p.m. at Lakeshore Sport & Fitness.
They would like nothing better than to duplicate last year's match that saw the Blue Demons sweep to a 7-0 victory on their home courts.
This will be the first competition for both teams as UIC had matches against Omaha and Marquette canceled.
Two days later, DePaul competes in its first road test traveling to Kalamazoo, Mich. to face a Western Michigan team that has started out 4-0. The Broncos swept a double-header from Grand Valley State by identical 7-0 scores and doubled up against Ferris State 6-1, 7-0.
Christopher Casati will look to follow up last year's stellar singles campaign when he was 17-11 before the season shut down. Boris Spanjaard went 15-14 and Tamas Zador 10-9.
Casati and Spanjaard teamed up for an excellent doubles season going 20-9 overall including 11-4 in tournament play and 9-5 in dual matches.
After missing the fall tournament season because of injuries, the Tonejc brothers Fran and Vito came back strong in the spring with a 9-2 doubles mark in dual matches.
