DePaul Hosts Creighton at Wish Field on Saturday

First touch is set for 1:00 p.m. CT in Lincoln Park
CHICAGO - DePaul men's soccer returns to Lincoln Park this weekend to take on the Creighton Bluejays at 1:00 p.m. CT at Wish Field on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Demons are coming off their first win of the 2020-21 season which came in Cincinnati, Ohio on Wednesday afternoon on a Jacob Huth overtime game-winning goal. The Blue Demons battled back from being down 2-1, forced overtime, and claimed the BIG EAST match with time winding down in extra time against Xavier.
DePaul (1-2-2, 1-2 BIG EAST) will be back at Wish Field for the first time since suffering a 3-1 defeat against Marquette last Saturday. Creighton (2-2, 2-0 BIG EAST) enters the match with an undefeated conference record after wins over Marquette and Xavier. DePaul is still searching for its first win against Creighton, Saturday's matchup will be the eleventh all time between the sides. The last two editions of the matchup have both resulted in one-goal Creighton wins.
In Wednesday's victory, freshman forward Marek Gonda tallied his first career goal to open the scoring. After a pair of Xavier scores, Timmy Iscra headed home a free kick that was swung in by Omar Ramadan. The game advanced to overtime and Huth scored after intercepting a pass to seal the first Blue Demon win of the season.
Creighton enters match in Lincoln Park after a 2-0 loss to Missouri State on Wednesday afternoon. This season, the Bluejays have been led by Diego Gutierrez who has scored a pair of goals. Goalkeeper Paul Kruse earned BIG EAST Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year accolades coming into the spring season.
After Saturday's match, DePaul will go a week without competition before hosting the Butler Bulldogs on Saturday, March 20 at 11:00 a.m. CT.
