DePaul takes on Xavier at noon CT on Wednesday
CHICAGO – DePaul men's soccer heads to Cincinnati this week to take on the Xavier Musketeers on Wednesday at noon CT. Both DePaul (0-2-2, 0-2 BIG EAST) and Xavier (3-3, 0-1 BIG EAST) will be looking for their first win of the 2021 spring conference slate.
DePaul is back in action after dropping the home opener to the Marquette Golden Eagles in Lincoln Park on Saturday, 3-1. Blue Demon midfielder Matty Brickman notched his first career goal in the match, tying the game at one in the first half. A pair of unanswered second-half goals led Marquette to the victory.
The Blue Demons and Musketeers have squared off 17 times in the all-time series and Xavier holds a 15-2 advantage. However, the two sides have played closely contested matches over the last two seasons. DePaul beat Xavier 1-0 in 2018 before the Musketeers claimed the 2019 edition of the matchup, 1-0.
Xavier compiled a 3-2 record during non-conference play earlier this season and is coming off of a BIG EAST loss against Creighton on March 6. The Musketeers were defeated in Omaha, Neb., 2-1.
