Personal Bests Highlight Tom Botts Invite, Day Two Canceled

Five Blue Demons turn in personal best performances
COLUMBIA, Mo. – The DePaul track & field squad resumed outdoor competition at the Tom Botts Invitational at the University of Missouri on Friday afternoon. Six Blue Demons turned in personal best performances across the hammer throw, shot put and 1500m events.
The second day of events has been canceled due to inclement weather in the forecast.
The women's hammer throw began the day's competition and the Blue Demons saw Rebecca Chouinard finish 12th with a 53.93m distance while freshman Billie Martin threw a personal best of 53.31m to finish 13th.
In the men's hammer throw Alex Murray and Ben Litwin recorded personal best outings. Murray took 12th at 48.19m while Litwin finished 13th with a distance of 47.82.
Sophomore Alexa Havon ran in the first 1500m race of her career and ran a 4:59.24.
In the men's 1500m, three Blue Demon entrants recorded a personal best. Junior Shane Knanishu led the way with in sixth place with a time of 3:50.00. Knanishu shaved off nearly eight seconds from his 1500m outing at the Louisville Invite last weekend. Charlie Mcintyre turned in a 3:54.64 to finish 16th. Chris Ahlers ran a 4:01.28 (29th).
Freshman Jackson Thomas saw his first action in the event and finished at a 4:09.39 mark.
Murray closed out the Tom Botts Invite with a sixth-place finish in the shot put with a throw of 15.41m.
DePaul will continue their outdoor season April 16-17 at the Gibson Invitational hosted by Indiana State.
