Wisconsin's second half goal was the difference in the exhibition
CHICAGO - DePaul women's soccer was unable to find the back of the net in a 1-0 decision versus Wisconsin on Thursday at Wish Field. The exhibition match served as the Blue Demons lone preseason contest before the regular season begins versus Iowa next Thursday.
In the first half, sophomore Grace Phillpotts found an opening on the left side of the 18-yard box but could not quite curtail her strike, just missing the upper left corner. Phillpotts' quality chance picked up the pace of the match. The Blue Demons mixed in a handful of newcomers and key reserves throughout the match, the squad's first this fall.
DePaul managed to outshoot Wisconsin 5-4 but the Badgers pulled ahead midway through the second half on a low strike from point blank range in the Blue Demon box. DePaul goalkeeper Mollie Eriksson fought off a handful of other late chances from the Badgers including a dangerous chance on a Wisconsin corner kick.
